How do we prepare for long, effective living?

It is increasingly likely that we may live to age 100 or beyond.  In order to live well, we need to keep  purpose in our lives.  For most of us, we derive most of our purpose from work.  Therefore, we need the work in order to have a meaningful life, whether or not  we need the money.  And considering the growing impact of government spending for many of  the wrong things, we are likely to  need the money.

What is the power of our unconscious computer?

The eminent Swiss psychologist Carl Jung had this to  say, “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”  Our inner self is the source of all knowledge, wisdom and creativity that we will ever need to live a life filled with peace, joy and  harmony.  And from this state of being, comes the infinite good that we  seek to  do, be and become.  First within, then without.

What is the hierarchy of belief?

Belief is not a simple concept.  We often say we believe something, when in truth we may only  be hypothesizing some idea or notion.  In order to achieve true belief, we may traverse a graduated  process.  The lowest step is Hope.  I hope I can do this. The second step is Realization. I haven’t succeeded yet but I realize success may be possible. The next step is Conviction. I am now convinced that I am on the right track.  The final step is Knowing.  When I know something to be true, belief is now complete and the outcome is without question.

Why is self-employment, in some form, becoming more desirable as people age?

Retirement at 65, 70, 75 or more is becoming less and less desirable, since people are living so many more years past the traditional age of retirement and many , if  not  most,  are continuing to experience good health.  Consequently, keeping work in our lives gives us purpose and we need purpose to maintain vitality.  Happy, productive people are healthy people.

What can make employees more valuable in the eyes of management?

There is little cost associated with firing people in the US.  However, if there was greater cost associated with employee transition( severance, benefit continuance, etc.) employers would  spend  more  to develop productive people thus saving the cost associated with hiring more people than necessary in order to compensate for a lack of employee productivity.  Then they would have to spend more money when laying off the excess.
